The reasoning for guiding students to roll to the right comes from an understanding that the right side of the body is our yang/masculine side of the body and therefore could offer us more energy and help to awaken us from the deep rest of Savasana. The left side of the body is the yin/feminine side of the body and perhaps helps us drop into a more restful, calm state, especially lying on that side of the body for sleep, which could help the vital organs of the digestive system to fully relax. Some teachers offer the option to roll to either side of the body depending on what feels good at that moment, for that student.
This may depend on the type of class you have just taught, and how you wish to complete the practice. For example, if it was a fiery Vinyasa practice, perhaps rolling to the left after Savasana would help with balancing the yang energy from class and help to finish the practice in a place of peace and calm. On the other hand, if you have taught a Restorative or Yin practice, perhaps it feels more organic to roll to the right side of the body after Savasana, so the students can begin the process of becoming more alert before leaving the class.
