Once you have completed your 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training it is highly recommended that you find a way to teach as soon as you can. This can help dissolve those new teacher nerves, help you to gain experience, and it can help you to implement the learnings from the course and put them into practice. The sooner you teach, the quicker those nerves will dissipate and the sooner you will start to build confidence as a new teacher.
When you begin your teaching journey you will start to discover what type of teacher you are, what styles of classes you enjoy teaching, and the types of students that consistently return to your classes. This might help you to decide what continued training you may wish to take. Some students opt to take the Yin, Restorative, Prenatal or Children’s Yoga Teacher Training, some students choose to move on to the 300-hour Teacher Training program. Giving some time and space between your training programs can be a good thing, as it can allow for the information you have just learnt to be fully absorbed and for you to put that learning into practice. It can also allow you to fine tune your skill set and may offer you clarity into how you would like your teaching journey to unfold.
That being said, some students do choose to complete their 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training before they teach their first Yoga class. Depending on the type of learner you are, you might benefit more from deepening your well of knowledge and information before you decide to step into the world of teaching. Or perhaps your intention is not to teach, but to deepen your understanding of the practice of Yoga, in that case, you might move from one course to the next at your own pace.
