Every person has challenges and obstacles to overcome during their Yoga Teacher Training, and balancing life as a parent is one of them. Our amazing Alumni community answered this so beautifully. It is so amazing to read all the love and support for our fellow students as we all continue on our learning journey.
Below are some wise words from fellow mamas and students:
Alumni Sara D’Andrea writes:
“I have two children at home doing schooling right now and they are definitely a full time job. What I have found works for me is to work on my modules in the morning before they get up and while they are having breakfast etc. I get a solid hour in (sometimes) and that’s basically all I do right now. Sometimes I do more on the weekend but most often I do not. It’s easy to say to not put too much pressure on yourself. Another thing that I have found helpful is the meditation in our book by Thich Nhat Hanh “I breath in, I calm my body, I breath out, I smile”. It’s such a simple mantra and I find it very grounding and a helpful way to start the day. I don’t know how old your children are and your work situation but if you can get up before them and carve out some time for yourself it is so great. You’ve got this!”
Alumni Emma Day adds:
“You are doing great but just remember this journey isn't supposed to happen quickly. We signed up for a lifetime of learning when we stepped on this path. If you know your learning style is to really absorb the information then be happy in that knowledge, and don't worry about if you need to keep up with the ' game' of completing it in a certain time. Enjoy the journey, and remember as much as it's harder work with the children at home, that in itself can be a lesson of discovery in this journey. Be kind to yourself.”
